  1. Great tips!! It all boils down to your priorities and wise decisions ;). Sort of like going shopping for clothes and asking myself: Do I need it or do I want it? Most of the time I put everything back except for one item that checks all the boxes. 😁

  2. 95% of laptop buyers are wasting money, over paying. For regulars, just buy an Intel Core 7 with 8 giga ram and you will have a great experience. Don’t pay more than $250

  3. You’re on point especially on brand loyalty.. every dick n mary is guilty on this… especially Apple fan boys 😂n chics

  4. I’d add 1 more: not thinking IF you really need a new laptop at the moment. A friend of mine uses her laptop only for browsing the web, email and MSOffice. Nothing else. She had an old Fujitsu with some crappy Pentium 2nd gen CPU, HDD and 4GB of RAM. It turned out the CPU is replaceable and the motherboard takes up to 8GB of RAM. So with a quick CPU and RAM replacement (2nd gen i5 are really cheap), a brand new SSD and a new battery she got a laptop that is enough for her needs for at least next few years. All that for 10% of what she was willing to spend on a new one.

  5. I have a Pink HP 14, just bought on sale at Walmart yesterday, and it’s kinda been a learning curve. I tried the model out in the store and love the feel of the keys and that it has the two click buttons on the mouse pad area. I bought a Logitech mouse for it, because I’m used to either using a phone, tablet, or an older desktop (I took computers in High School and only worked with Mac OS 7- OS X and Windows 98 to Windows 7-8. I used computers ever since I was a kid in Prekindergarten).

  6. TechGearTalk… You did not address the most important reason!!…… I own a Macbook pro Nov 2021 14in’… and it has been to apple repair 4 times!! ‼ Most important : "Repair rate / reliability " is fist!!💣 Three times this year, and once was twice in the same week! I had to send my macbook in. Never dropped. It is like buying a lemon! Granted I have applecare. But that expires in 5 months. So I will be stuck with lemon!!!

  7. I use a laptop with a powerful processor for video editing. Only because of that, its the reason why mines is more expensive than what most people use. If it wasn’t, then I’d get a more budget friendly one.

  8. Literally described any purchase in life for any product!!! Take dildos….. power performance ….. 17.1 in display! And consider where you’re using it! What ports are available lol

  9. Don’t forget cooling. There is a lot of garbage out there that tries to sell an i7 / Ryzen 7 and graphics card with one or two dinky little heat pipes with one small fan. One criminal example (While not an i7), is the Asus Vivobook w/ i5 or Ryzen 5 CPU. Some models have ok cooling while others have a single dinky heat pipe with a single small fan blowing over the CPU and heat pipe. Not even a heat pipe drawing heat from CPU close to outtake vent and fan blowing to outtake. Pure hot garbage. On top of that, be very weary of other characteristics like play of the chassis, hinge design and insufficient cooling for a GPU and CPU that is either above what the cooling can handle in general or could normally handle if not for overclocking too high causing throttling or an early death (looking at you ACER NITRO!). Do your research and it will pay off. Also, be very careful what you buy at your local retail (Ex: Target and Walmart, not talking about micro center). I’ve been looking at my local retail stores and they have had hot garbage with rare diamonds in the rough.

  10. I’ll be honest, I clicked this video cynical that these tips might just be shallow and not that helpful, but this is really good advice.

  11. LOVE that your review is being from the point of: “We are all poor!” Not true man haha it’s not a lifetime laptop most of us with real jobs will use it for 3-5 years then buy a different one.

  12. personally if its not atleast 5 years old, has a desktop grade keyboard, and isnt thick enough with socketed parts, i dont want it

  13. I know this is probably a rookie question but if you go for a 1080p screen, can you still edit/export in 4/8K? I would imagine so but 🤷‍♂️

  14. Hello,
I need a laptop which I use mainly for editing raw format photos (25MB each) and playing my guitar through headphones (using a audio interface as Focusrite + amp simulator software). What do you think I should look for? I guess ram+CPU right?

  15. Buy a MacBook with, at least, 15 inches. No Windows scam. You‘ll be happy but 1600 bucks poorer. 😂
I hate Apple prices, but they are great.

  16. thanks 🙏🏻 that was an excellent pay-attention-list to watch before diving into the quest for my new laptop

  17. Hi, This helps me a lot. Thank you for your advises on buying a laptop because I am in a process of getting one. I have been doing a lot of research, watching YouTube videos, going to store testing it out. And you are right I saw people just walking around not touching the laptop or playing with them at the display which I did. I never thought buying a laptop is so involved. But I got 80% right from your list. 🙂

  18. I always test the keyboard and touch pad … as an ex typist, it has to be ergonomic for me (also being a leftie 🙌🏼)

  19. 2 in 1s are great for creatives that don’t use procreate. Even medibang pro for mobile misses out on features of the free counterpart on windows. Plus, doing any animation, unless you have a dedicated software natively on the tablet, all your files are a pain to transfer. Being able to drag and drop or run windows on a tablet style is a HUGE plus. This, or get used to a drawing tablet with an unfoldable. I love the lack of file transfer of 2 in 1s. Not too many people talk about them now because they’re not the latest news, but it is a serious need. I’m an aspiring game dev, so need to make my sprites and test over and over to ensure no animation breaks. Not having the re-upload time is a serious boon.

  20. Storage is a tricky guess for me. I mainly just need a portable one for writing, but what I use currently is a gaming laptop so it likely has waaaay more storage than I need for this one thing so I can’t use that to compare 🤔

  21. These were plenty of very valid points, thanks … but do you have a time machine, creatin the video in 2022 and naming it "2024 Buying guide" ?
Or do you have a script the renames it every year automatically?
But to your excuse, the things you mentioned are valid and generic, not matter which year it is👍

  22. I had a laptop given to me and i never had any problems with it it was a samsung rv 520 ultra book with 8gb ram it was my 1st laptop it was ductape together at 1 point

  23. I just want speed. My last laptop was so slow I could click something then walk away and do something els while waiting for it to do its thing.

  24. i am considering purchasing Asus Zen book s 13. I currently have MacBook air but i need windows os for school work and thinking to own it for 5-8years. Do you think extra $400 is worth memory to 32gb of memory (instead of 16gb) AND Intel Ultra 7 155U(instead of i7 1355U)? I am only doing reading textbook and running some accounting softwares, excel, etc. no gaming and potential video editing. Thanks!
